Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce electric power required for deflection, the length of a cathode ray tube, and its necessary space by arranging X-and Y-directional deflecting electromagnetic coils by shifting to the flow direction of electron beam. CONSTITUTION:The Y-directional deflecting coil 24 is almost the same as the conventional one, and electron beam which passes through the coil 24 is extended. The X-directional deflecting coil 23 is provided by shifting it toward the electron gun side, where because the electron beam is well forcused, the yoke of the deflecting coil can be provided close to the electron beam. Thus, magnetic field can be applied only to the portion necessary for deflection and therefore deflection can be coused by smaller power, thus a compact cathode ray tube which requires low power can be obtained.
