Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the rigidity of a tool projecting support without impairing ultrasonic torsional vibration of the tool by statically supporting thereof with oil. CONSTITUTION:A vibrating tool 13 is fixed on a hole 24 on a static supporting member 19 in such a manner as to align each other and a tip 18 is supported on the tool 13. Four static pads 22 and lands 23 are provided on the inner surface of the hole 24. A hydraulic pressure Ps is fed to the hole from the hydraulic source through needle-shaped throttles 21 and oil feed ports 20 and flows out between the tool 13 and the land 23 resulting in zero pressure. As the tool 13 is displaced from the center of the hole 24, the hydraulic pressure in the pad becomes so static as to change the outflow of the oil from the clearance. As a result, a centripetal force always works on the tool thereby increasing the rigidity of the tool tip as a static rigidity.
