Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain title stable polymeric liquid which does not contain any emulsifiers and any dispersants, by a method wherein a vinyl monomer is polymerized by emulsion polymn, a cyclic siloxane monomer is subjected to ring-opening emulsion polymn. in the presence of the resulting vinyl polymer, and sulfonic gp. in the resulting polymer are neutralized.
CONSTITUTION: Vinyl monomer of formula I or II (wherein X is a radical of formula III, IV or V; Z is ethylene, butylene, phenylene, Y is H, halogen, methyl) or a mixt. of the vinyl monomer and other monomer, is polymerized by emulsion polymn. to obtain a vinyl polymer contg. at least 2×10-6 moles of sulfonic gp. per gram of the polymer. A cyclic siloxane monomer of formula VI (wherein R is methyl, phenyl; R' is methyl, phenyl, 3W8C alkyl, cycloalkyl; x is 3W6) is subjected to ring-opening emulsion polymn. in the presence of the vinyl polymer to obtain a sulfonic gp.-contg. organopolysiloxane emulsion polymer. The sulfonic gp. in the emulsion polymer are neutralized with an alkaline material to produce a stable organopolysiloxane emulsion polymeric liquid which does not contain any emulsifiers and any dispersants.
