Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve considerably S/N of a color signal to be reproduced, by converting the amplitude ratio of the burst signal to the carrier chrominance signal to a desired value and by controlling the gain of a composite color signal by the detection signal. CONSTITUTION:The recording signal taken out from a recording medium by video head 18 is separared into a luminance FM signal and a low-band conversion composite color signal by HPF19 and LPF20. The luminance FM signal is demodulated by angle demodulator 21 to obtain a reproduced luminance signal. The composite color signal is stabilized by automatic gain control circuit 25 and has time base fluctuation eliminated by the continuous wave from BPF35 to obtain the original composite color signal, and this signal and the reproduced luminance signal are added to obtain a reproduced color video signal. Meanwhile, the burst signal separated by burst gate circuit 28 becomes an automatic gain signal by amplitude detector and time constant circuit 29.
