Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the fade area from the driver's seat and make possible accurate object confirmation by constituting the mirror surface of an objective mirror by the convex surface of revolution body of which the radius of curvature increases gradually from the center of rotation toward the outer side.
CONSTITUTION: This device is mounted near the upper left corner of the driver's seat of a truck, bus or the like and consists of an objective mirror 2, of which the visual field is the portion X to become a fade area that cannot be directly recognized from the driver's seat and an eyepiece mirror 3 which is so disposed as to make the video of said objective mirror visible from the eye point EP of the driver's seat. The reflecting portion of the mirror surface of the objective mirror 2 is constituted by the convex surface-of-revolution body of which the radius of curvature increases subsequently from the center of rotation toward the outer side, so as to decrease the distortions of the video. The eye point EP of the driver and the objective mirror 2 and eyepiece mirror 3 are disposed nearly on a straight line so that the dynamic visual field coinciding with the advancing direction of the vehicle is obtained. The visual field becomes Z shown in the figure and this perfectly covers the foregoing fade area X.
