Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize simultaneous measurement of car height and car width, by providing two lens systems comprising the car passing region within the field of vision in the upper part of the car passing region, and electrically detecting the video image width of the licenser in the widthwise direction of the car image provided on the imaging plane.
CONSTITUTION: Two lens systems 2, 3 of equal focal length (f) are provided in the upper part of a specified lane 1a, at an interval sufficiently smaller than the width of a passing car 9, on the plane parallel to the car width direction, with optical axes 4, 5 being set vertical to the road surface.
