Abstract

PURPOSE: Title composition, composed primarily of a water-soluble alkyd resin, free from moisture haze, cissing, etc., which is prepared from a raw material containing a specified hydroxy group-containing compound.
CONSTITUTION: A water paint composition is prepared primarily from an alkyd resin of a number-average MW 500W10,000, an acid value 15W100 and a hydroxyl value ≤200, which contains 5W50wt% of a hydroxy-containing compound of the formula (R is 3W18C hydrocarbon or alkyl-substituted phenyl, R1 is H or CH3, n is 1W20). The water-soluble alkyd resin can be obtained by the esterification of a polyhydric alcohol, a polybasic acid and if necessary oil and fat, etc.
