Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a compsn. which does not emit malodor during curing, by a method wherein a liquid polymer contg. not less than 70% of a butadiene residue having a 1,2-bond in the polymer chain is blended with a condensation product of an α,β-unsaturated acid and a hydrogenated product of polyhydroxybutadiene in a specified ratio.
CONSTITUTION: As hydrogenated products there are used a homopolymer of 1,3- butadiene. or a copolymer composed of butadiene and a vinyl monomer (styrene, acrylonitrile etc.), said copolymer contg. not more than 40wt% of the vinyl monomer and having at least one OH terminal gp., pref. two OH terminal gp., per molecule of the polymer. 5W100pts.wt of liquid butadiene polymer contg. not less than 70wt% of a butadiene residue having a 1,2-bond is blended with 100pts.wt. of an unsaturated polyester obtd. by the condensation reaction of an α,β-unsaturated acid such as maleic anhydride with the above hydrogenated polymer in which the rate of hydrogenation is not less than 50%. A curing catalyst, a pigment, etc. are added to the resulting blend. The mixt. is cured by heating to produce a curable polymer compsn. having excellent electrical and mechanical properties, particularly flexibility and heat deterioration resistance.
