Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Sulfur atom-containing silanol compounds of formula I (R1 is H, monovalent hydrocarbyl which may be substituted; R2 is divalent hydrocarbyl; R3 is H, monovalent hydrocarbyl other than alkenyl, which may be substituted; R4 is monovalent organic radical; a is 1W3; m is 0, 1).
EXAMPLE: The compound of formula II.
USE: Starting materials for agricultural chemicals and medicines. Intermediate in silicone industry. Sealing material, electrically insulating material and elastomers.
PREPARATION: An mercapto-containing organic compound is made to act on a silanol containing alkenyl of formula III to give the compound of formula I. The reaction is effected preferably under the irradiation of light at a temperature of -20W200°C. When necessary, a radical initiator and sensitizer may be employed.
