Abstract

PURPOSE:The title cosmetic having improved unique thixotropic properties, and spreadability, rubbing properties and smoothness, comprising bentonite containing cation-exchangeable sodium ions, an oily substance, an emulsifier and water. CONSTITUTION:An emulsified paste pack cosmetic comprising (A) 2-20wt.% of bentonite, e.g. high-purity sodium montmorillonite, containing 100mg equivalents/ 100g of cation-exchangeable sodium ions, (B) 2-25wt.% of an oily substance, e.g. castor oil, spermaceti or petrolatum, (C) 0.05-10wt.% of an emulsifier, e.g. polyoxyethylene sorbitan higher fatty acid ester and (D) 30-95wt.% of water. The bentonite forms a stable oil-containing aqueous colloid, having improved rheological properties, and improves the synergistic effect of the components and spreadability, thus preventing the deterioration in quality.
