Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce the color polarizing film of high dichromatic ratio by subjecting the color polarizing film, which is composed of a polyvinyl alcohol film and Congo Red, to heating the moisture adsorption treatment under the specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film is dyed by Congo Red and the excess dyes are washed away by tapping water to form the dyed PVA film. This is oriented to form the polarizing film. Next, with the film being held stretched as above, it is heat-treated at a temperature of 150°C or less, thence it is subjected to adsorption treatment of moisture by being left standing at about 30W100°C in an atmosphere of humidity about 70W99%, whereby the color polarizing film of high dichromatic ratio is obtained.
