Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the time of communication and to put a communication circuit into effective operation by transmitting a fixed form of information regarding alphabets, numbers, etc., as character code signals and by converting them into facsimile signals at a reception side for recording and reproduction. CONSTITUTION:After the circuits of telephone sets 1 and 2 are connected together, switch circuits 3 and 4 are changed over to connect a facsimile FAX equipment to the circuit. The transmission side consists of FAX transmitter 5, CHR transmitter 6 which modulates and transmits character CHR codes, and switch circuit 7 which selects either of transmitters 5 and 6 and sends signals to the communication circuit. Transmitter 6 sends a pilot signal for discriminating the CHR signal. At the reception side, the signals are supplied to demodulator 9 or CHR demodulator 10 via switch circuit 8. Demodulator 9 demodulates the FAX signal, and demodulator 10 demodulates the CHR code signal; and the output is converted by a signal converting circuit into the FAX signal and selectively alternated with the output of demodulator 9 by switching circuit 11 before being recorded and reproduced by FAX receiver 12.
