Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily manufacture a superior one-side hot dipped steel strip by attaching molten metal to one side of a steel strip in a nonoxidizing atmosphere; covering the other side with a hot dipping preventive material; and dipping the strip in a molten metal bath. CONSTITUTION:Steel strip 2 uncoiled by uncoiler 1 is passed through oxidation furnace 3 and reduction furnace 4 to purify both sides of strip 2 and activate them. One strip 2 side to be hot dipped is precoated with hot dipping metal 6 in a reducing atmosphere by means of precoat roll 5 through turn roll 9, and an oxide film or a soot coat is formed on the other side not to be hot dipped in the air with burner 7 set on the side not to be hot dipped. Strip 2 is then introduced into metal 6, one-side hot dipped, and taken out into the air through sink roll 8. After removing the soot with brush roll 11 through top roll 10 or the oxide film with pickling soln. 12 a perfectly one-side hot dipped steel strip is coiled by coiler 15.
