Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the structure compact and to raise efficiency of energy conversion, by providing a heat exchanger having heat pipes which are extended between a primary heating-medium passage and a secondary heating-medium passage and are charged with a gas the pressure of which is selected to meet with various heat exchanging conditions.
CONSTITUTION: Pipe 41 connected in series to passage 22 for a primary heating medium and pipe 42 connected in series to passage 25 for a secondary heating medium are disposed adjacently with each other, and a plurality of heat pipes 43 are extended through opposing walls of these pipes 41 and 42 in a direction perpendicular to the flow of heating mediums. Pressure of gas sealed in these heat pipes 43 is selected to meet with heat exchanging conditions of superheater 27, reheater 28 and evaporator 29. With such an arrangement, mixing of the primary and the secondary heating mediums can be prevented if heat pipes 43 are damaged. Thus, it is enabled to ensure safe operation, to make the apparatus compact since effect attained by two heat pipes in conventional arrangements can be achieved by a single heat pipe, and thus to improve efficiency of heat exchange.
