CONSTITUTION:A molten mixture of 0.5-5.0wt% of a higher alcohol polyoxyethylene ether shown by the formula (R is 12-22C alcohol or alkenyl; n is 5-20 integer), 1.0-10.0wt% of a higer fatty acid and an oily substance having no free carboxyl group, e.g., liquid paraffin, butyl stearate, etc. is blended with 0.1-0.4 mole of an alkali metal hydroxide based on 1 mole of the higher fatty acid and an aqueous solution having a salt of a higher alcohol sulfate to give an acidic emulsion cosmetic. The cosmetic is slightly acidic in pH of 4.8-6.5, exhibits a small change in pH, viscosity, and hardness even for a long-term storage, and has improved moisture retention in use, fitness to the skin, and good touch.
