Abstract
PURPOSE:To minimize errors in the measurement of the air-fuel ratio by processing an analytic detection value of the content of the predetermined components in exhaust gas by LEPs having large time constants as compared with the response time of analyzers and by applying output from the LPFs to an air-fuel ratio calculating arithmetic circuit. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas from an engine is added to non-dispersion infrared analyzers 1f, 1'f and an ionization analyzer 2c to allow the carbon dioxide contnet CO2, carbon monoxide content CO and methane gas-converted hydrocarbon content THC in exhaust gas to detect in the forms of electric signals. These signals are applied to an analog computing element AO, in which the air-fuel ratio is calculated on the basis of a predetermined formula, through LPF's 3... having time constants greater than the response times of the analyzers 1f, 1'f, 2c, which are determined by respective resistors R and capacitors C. Accordingly, the air-fuel ratio can be measured with small errors the measuring operation being not influenced by the analyzers 1f, 1'f, 2c with different response speeds.
