Abstract

PURPOSE: To cause a moving body to travel accurately to a destination by causing the moving body to travel while constantly measuring the distance between a plurality of stationary stations.
CONSTITUTION: A large number of stationary stations 3, 3... are arranged beforehand along the traveling path 2 of a moving body 1. At each of these stations 3 there are provided a generator 4 for signal waves and an oscillator 5 for ultrasonic waves. Respective stations are connected so that they operate sequentially in a predetermined sequence. While the signal waves and ultrasonic waves are simultaneously generated from devices 4 and 5, the ultrasonic wave from the device 5 changes its output mode at each stationary station, and even when ultrasonic waves are superimposed, they can be discriminated. The signal wave and ultrasonic wave from one stationary station 3 are simultaneously generated, and from the difference between the arrival time of the signal wave and that of the ultrasonic wave the distance betwen the stationary stations 3 from a bit pattern discriminating device 8 and an ultrasonic wave discriminating device 11 is measured, whereby the moving body 1 is caused to travel along the traveling path 2 to the destination as the present position of the moving body is being confirmed.
