Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide title apparatus which give products having constant quality by rapidly removing byproduct volatile matter to increase the reaction rate, and in which upper agitating blades having through-holes or grooves and inclined at an angle of 10W50 ° and lower agitating blades inclined at an angle not less than 50°, are fixed to a vertical rotating shaft.
CONSTITUTION: In a vertical polycondensation reaction apparatus for polyester, upper agitating blades 8 are provided with long grooves or through-holes 9 and are arranged in such a manner that an angle θ1 of inclination is 10W50°, and lower agitating blades 8 are arranged in such a manner that an angle θ2 of inclination is not less than 50°. Monomers of a polyester and/or low polymers thereof are charged from a supply port 4 to the vertical reactor 1 to liquid level 3. While heating the reactor 1 under pressure, the agitating blades 8 are rotated by a vertical rotating shaft 7 in such a direction that reactants are pushed up. Volatile matter such as ethylene glycol is formed, and the discharge of the volatile matter through a volatile matter-discharging port 6 to the outside is promoted. Gas-liquid contact area is increased by the long grooves or the through-holes 9, thereby increasing polymn, rate.
