Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture the high accurate elbow with the straight pipe part free from the flattening and thickness deviation, by putting the ice pillar inside the bending part, and by pressing the pipe blank with the bending roll.
CONSTITUTION: The wall thickness on the inner side of the bending part C of the pipe blank P is machine cut to be relatively thinner than the wall thickness on the outer side of the bending part C. The pipe blank P is plugged on both ends, and after filling inside of the pipe blank P with water, the water is fleezed. Hereupon, the construction is contrived so as to permit the plug to be movable or to permit the water to flow out, in consideration of the volumetric expansion due to the freezing of water. Next, the pipe blank P is laid across the bearing grooves 22, 22, of both bearing blocks 2, 2, so as to locate the center of the bending part C at the middle of the support shafts 21, 21, of both bearing blocks 2, 2; and then, the bending roll 3 is brough down. While inside of the bending part C of the pipe blank P is being restrained by the ice pillar, the bending part C is gradually bent with the downward movement of the bending roll 3, and is finished to the desired bend.
