Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent generation of noise in the device and miniaturize the device, by obtaining the focus information of the object image by purely electric processing, and operating the focus adjusting mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: A main optical system lens 3 and a sub-optical system lens 4 are integrally moved by a focus adjusting mechanism 9. A lenticular lens 8 in an auxiliary optical system has a convex lens part 5 which correspond to a first line sensor 16 of a photoelectric converting part 5, a non-lens part 6 which corresponds to a second line sensor 17, and a concave lens part 7 which corresponds to a third line sensor 18, so that the images are imaged in each position of focal positions P3, P2, P4. The photoelectric converting part 15 photoelectrically converts the image by the sub-optical ststem to obtain a video signal, and outputs a signal of frequency components of which frequency band varies with the focus state of the image. Receiving this output signal, a detecting circuit 20 outputs a signal from a drive control circuit 32, and controls a motor 13 of the focus driving mechanism 9 until the image pick-up lens 3 and detecting lens 4 are caused to coincide in the focus.
