Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent catalyst particles from sintering in regeneration stage by a method wherein catalyst particles on which coke is deposited are separated from heating medium particles on which coke is deposited and the coke on the heating medium particles is burnt to reduce the catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: Heavy oil supplied from the supply port 2 of a craking tower 1 is cracked in a fluidized bed 4 consisting of catalyst paticles composed mainly of iron and heating medium particles which have specific gravity and particle diameter different from those of catalyst, thereby the heavy oil is converted into light oil and coke is deposited on the fluidized particles. The fluidized particles are introduced through a pipe 5 into a separating tower 12 arranged in the center of a regeneration tower 9. The catalyst is separated from the heating meidum by using gas from a heating medium fluidized bed 11. The heating medium is introduced into the fluidized bed 11 where coke is burnt. Within the separating tower 12, the coke on the catalyst is subjected to partial combustion by the remaining oxygen and potential heat of the gas from the fluidized bed 11 and at the same time the catalyst is reduced. Then the catalyst is introduced through a catalyst accumulating part 10 into a gasification tower 18 where the catalyst is regenerated by steam supplied from a supply port 22. The catalyst is recycled through a returning pipe 6 to the cracking tower 1.
