Abstract

PURPOSE: Ethylene-α-olefin-polyene terpolymer rubber is vulcanized and foamed by using together a quinone dioxime and an azodicarbon amide, thus producing title foamed articles with no use of sulfur-containing foaming agent.
CONSTITUTION: To 100pts.wt. of ethylene-α-olefin-ethylidenenorbornene terpolymer rubber, preferably the molar ratio of ethylene/α-olefin is 60/40W85/15, the cotent of ethylidennorbornene is 8W30 when given with iodine value, and the Mooney viscosity is 15W150, are added 0.5W3 parts of quinone dioxime such as p- quinone dioxime, and 5W40 parts of azodicarbonamide, when necessary, 5W30 parts of vulcanizing asistant such as urea.
EFFECT: Metal is free from corrosion and discoloration even when it is brought into contact with the resulting articles for a long period of time.
USE: Covering material for thermal insulation, electrical insulation. Thermal insulation for water pipes.
