Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve a controlling property in a halfly engaged clutch state, by keeping clutch-operating pressure at a constant high level at an initial stage, engaging a clutch, then sharply reducing the pressure to halfly engage the clutch, then slowly reducing the pressure and thereafter aliminating the pressure in the operating range of a brake.
CONSTITUTION: When an operating pedal 11 is released, the rod valve 23 of a clutch-operating pressure controller 4 is at the left end and a pressure regulating valve 22 is also at the left end. As a result, working oil from a hydraulic pump 3 is all conducted from an inlet port 32 to an outlet port 34 through an annular recess 31 and selectively supplied to clutches 6, 7 through a changeover valve 5. When the pedal 11 is depressed to thrust the valve 23 to a position to connect a port 42 and another annular recess 39 to each other, the valve 22 is appropriately moved rightward through the medium of a spring 25 and the cross-sectional area of the inlet port 32 is reduced. As a result, oil pressure at the outlet port 34, namely, clutch oil pressure is sharply reduced. When the valve 23 is thrusted further, the other valve 22 is moved rightward further. As a result, the clutch oil pressure is eliminated.
