Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a reduction in foaming rate of a layer near a metallic surface and enable to form an expanded heat insulating member with an uniform foaming rate on the metallic surface by a method wherein the expanded heat insulating members are provided on the metallic surface so that the first layer is thin and the second layer or the layers thereabove are thick while the layers are provided in multiple manner.
CONSTITUTION: In case an expandable heat insulating member 2 is formed at site on a surface of a metallic projected body 1, a plurality of times of spraying and expanding of an expandable resin material are repeated on the projected body 1 and a spray amount per unit time for the first layer contacting with the metallic surface is made to be smaller, thereby, a reserved insulating layer 2A is formed, thereafter, the second layer or layers thereabove are formed with more spray amont. According to this method, a phenomenon of reduction in an expansion rate near the metallic surface due to an absorption of a heat of reaction by the metallic projected body when all of the layers are formed at one time of spray may be prevented.
