Abstract

PURPOSE:To reproduce a smooth linear picture of good picture quality by lessening unevenness of the reproduced picture due to a sampling error occurring at the boundary part of the liner picture in sampling operation. CONSTITUTION:In transmission-side unit A, image sensor 6 reads sequentially an original picture, picture element by picture element, by taking a main scan on original 3 around drum 2 in the x direction and a sub-scan in the y direction. According to the decision result of an even-numbered or odd-numbered x-directional scanning line sent from counter 9, processing circuit 7 shifts a picture signal sent from sensor 6 of alternate scanning lines by half a pitch of a picture element in the x direction. On reception side B, the signal sent from transmission side A is temporarily stored in a buffer memory and according to whether x-directional scanning lines are even-numbered or odd-numbered, respective picture elements for one scanning line are sent to driver 23 being delayed by half a pitch.
