Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the cuttability of a set-off sheet used to protect the surface of a photosensitive printing plate material; facilitate exfoliation of the sheet in use of the material; and prevent the surface photosensitive layer of the material from being damaged by adding a specified amt. of a fatty acid or a salt thereof to the sheet as a solid component. CONSTITUTION:To wood pulp, synthetic pulp or the like is added 0.1-10wt% as solid of an about 12-22C (un)saturated fatty acid such as lauric acid or stearic acid or an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt thereof such as sodium stearate, and paper is made. This paper is used as a set-off sheet for a photosensitive printing plate material such as Al plate coated with diazo resin. In a process of closely contacting the sheet to the material no air remains between them, and the sheet is slightly creased not to damage the photosensitive layer. Since the fatty acid (salt) acts to lubricate a cutting edge, a cut surface is finished clean.
