Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate handling by inserting a probe for thermometry of melted metal and/or sampling from the insertion entrance which is formed on the furnace bottom or on the side wall near the furnace bottom.
CONSTITUTION: Insertion entrance 2 extending downward is provided on furnace bottom 1a of a metal refining furnace, for example, converter 1. Probe 3 for thermometry of melted metal in converter 1 and sampling is inserted from insertion entrance 2 into converter 1 by pushing up unit 4. Melted metal in converter 1 is prevented from being flowed from insertion entrance 2 and is sealed, so that gas is led to insertion entrance 2.
