Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the yield of an unsaturated nitrile by adding a specific amount of W and/or K to a specific range of amounts of Mo, Bi, Pb, Sb and O as a catalyst to produce the nitrile.
CONSTITUTION: As a catalyst for the production of an unsaturated nitrile such as acrylonitrile by gas-phase contact of olefin, ammonia and oxygen or oxygen-contg. gas, a composition is used which is expressed by (Mo)a(W)b(Bi)c(Pb)d(Sb)e(K)f (O)g, wherein (a)W(g) each represents the number of atoms of Mo, W, Bi, Pb, Sb, K and O; 0.4≤c≤7, 2≤d≤12 and 0.005≤e/a≤1.14, when a=12; and g is the number of oxygen atoms required to satisfy valency of each component. This catalyst produces the unsaturated nitrile in a high selectivity.
