Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare an industrially durable and highly active catalyst by having α- alumina carrying metal or oxides of nickel, copper and chromium as hydrogenation reaction catalyst for alkyleneoxide.
CONSTITUTION: As a catalyst for the reaction in which alkanol is produced from alkyleneoxide and water, α-alumina is made to carry nickel in about 2W20wt%, copper in about 0.05W3wt%, and chromium in about 0.05W3wt%, in atomic wt%, as forms of metal or oxides. The obtained catalyst has a high activity, is physically durable, is long in service, and as such enables a long-term production in industrial scale.
