Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a smaller-sized master cylinder which can supply full oil to the brake cylinder with total length thereof reduced by a method wherein the pistons in oil chamber of large diameter and the one of a small diameter are connected through the opening member at a check valve.
CONSTITUTION: When a pedal D is stepped on, a piston 6 moves right through a push rod 5, oil chamber 2 of large diameter is pushed out to diameter chamber 3 of small through a check valve 15 and then, is sent to a brake cylinder through an opening part 23. Therefore, when the brake is energized and the oil pressure in a conduit rises up to an assigned pressure, a non-return valve 21 is opened and at this instant a pin 10 is interlocked with the concave part 8 of a rod 7. When the pedal D is stepped on again under this interlocking state, a piston 9 move right through the pin 10, the check valve 15 is closed, oil pressure is generated chamber 3 of small diameter and the brake cylinder is energized by a higher oil pressure.
