Abstract

PURPOSE: Title resin particles having excellent retention of blowing agents, prepared by kneading a polystyrene with a nitrile/diene copolymer rubber or a rubber comprising a major proportion of a polymer of an alkyl acrylate.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. of (a) a polystyrene which is a homopolymer of styrene or a copolymer of styrene with a comonomer, such as α-methylstyrene, vinyltoluene or ethyl acrylate, and 10W100pts.wt. pref. 30W70pts.wt. of (b) a copolymer rubber containing a nitrile component such as acrylonitrile and a diene component such as butadiene or a rubber comprising a major proportion of a polymer of an alkyl acrylate such as methyl acrylate or butyl acrylate, are kneaded at a temperature of about 180W200°C between rolls or like device. The mixture is pelletized through an extruder, and then, impregnated with about 3W15wt%, based on the resin composition, of a blowing agent, yielding the resin particles of the purpose.
