Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve deodorization effect by providing an ultraviolet radiation unit in the wet scrubbing tower of mal-odorous gas.
CONSTITUTION: The mal-odorous gas 1 introduced into a scrubbing tower 3 rises by passing the clearances between plural stages of ultraviolet light generating lamps which are frameworked in grating form in a packing layer 4. On the other hand, washing liquid 6 of the tower bottom is sprayed from the nozzles 12 of the tower top by a pump 7 and makes countercurrent contact with the mal-odorous gas while flowing in thin film form down the surfaces of the lamps. At this time, active radicals such as OH, etc. have been formed in the washing liquid through radiation of ultraviolet rays and therefore the mal-odorous components such as methl sulfide, methyl mercaptan, etc. which are difficult to be absorbed are absorbed and removed at high efficiency.
