Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the title sliding material having low dimensional change by heat treatment, excellent dimensional stability, and perfect airtightness, by impregnating a carbonaceous material first with a specific inorganic material and then with a resin.
CONSTITUTION: Open pores of a carbonaceous material are filled with an inorganic material having smaller thermal expansion coefficient than a resin (pref. less than 1/2 of that of the resin), e.g. aluminum phosphate, ethyl silicate, boric acid, etc., and then further filled with a thermosetting resin pref. a phenolic resin or a polyester resin. The impregnated composition is cured to obtain the objective sliding material.
