Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove multiple-deposited carbon, sulfur, oil contents, etc. while preventing sintering of catalysts by heat-treating the waste catalysts of hydrogenation desulfurization of hydrocarbon in the presence of steam or steam and combustion gas.
CONSTITUTION: In the treatment of hydrogenation desulfurization catalyst of hydrocarbon from petroleum and coal plants or the like, the waste catalysts thereof are heat-treated for 1W10 hours at 700W1000°C in the presence of steam or steam and combustion gas. Then, the deposited free sulfur and metal compounds are let to participate in the activation of the deposited carbon contents while the sintering phenomenon of the waste catalysts is being prevented. The oil contents are activated together with the deposited carbon contents after the carbonization and the free sulfur is removed while being let to participate in the activation of carbon contents. The waste catalysts are treated in this way, whereby the recovery of active carbon, carriers, etc. is performed and the recycling of resources accomplished.
