Abstract
PURPOSE: Residues of processed tomatoes are treated with water, an aqueous sodium chloride with a specific concentration in turn to collect tomato seeds, which are used in a flavor for various kinds of cocktail sauses and a source of seed oil.
CONSTITUTION: Residues of tomatoes, which are obtained in the production of tomato processed products, e.g., tomato ketchap or tomato juice and mainly consist of skins and seeds, are separated into the floating part and the sinking part in flowing or still water. The precipitate is treated with an aqueous sodium chloride of 8.5W9.5° Baume to divide into the floating fraction and the precipitating one. The seeds, which are collected as the precipitate, is washed with water.
