Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve producibility and lubricating property by a method wherein plural casting cores are subjected to internal chill in such condition that they each enclose a closed space, and adjacent cores are coupled with each other by support pipes.
CONSTITUTION: A cocoon-shaped metallic casting core 4 with rounded corner portions is formed, a metallic support pipe 6 having small holes c is welded to the core 4 at the longitudinally middle portion of the latter in such a manner that the pipe 6 intersects the longitudinal core axis P2, and rotation preventing members 11 are fitted to the end portions of the pipe 6, to form a core body C in which a closed core space B is communicated with the pipe 6 by the small holes c. Such core bodies C are so located that their axes P2 accord with the axis of a journal portion 1 or of a crank pin portion 3, the pipes 6 are held in parallel with or perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of arms 2, the spaces B of the adjacent cores 4 are communicated with each other by pipes 12, and casting is conducted around the pipes 12 and core bodies C. Thus, there is obtained free circulation of lubricating oil between the spaces B, and differential wear is prevented.
