Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst, whose mechanical strength is high and whose wear proof is excellent, and to denitrate the titled smoke efficently, by a method wherein substance, which is manufactured by changing the surfaces of metallic materials into porous shapes by aluminum and by forming silica films, is used as the denitrating catalyst of a coal burning boiler.
CONSTITUTION: Substance, which is produced by a method wherein aluminum is first turned into an alloy on the surfaces of metallic materials, such as, pure iron, nickel, etc., the outer layers of the materials are converted into porous shapes by means of aluminum diffusion and activated by rendering aluminum in the metallic materials, and porous silica films are made up on the active surfaces, is employed as a catalyst for denitrating a nitrogen oxide in smoke exhausted from a coal burning boiler. Since the denitrating catalyst is excellent in mechanical strength and wear proof, the smoke exhausted from the coal burning boiler, whose dust is not removed yet, is efficiently denitration-treated.
