Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a sintered product quality deterioration and a yield lowering due to oversintering of sintering starting material at both side sections of the moving pallet of a Dwight-Lloyd type sintering machine by placing grate bars for controlling gas permeability at the sections.
CONSTITUTION: At both side sections of grate bars 1 of the moving pallet of a Dwight-Lloyd type sintering machine one or a plurality of grate bars 4 are placed. Bar 4 has a flat surface free from an air permeable gap, and no gap is left between placed bar 4 and side plate 2 and between bars 4 to form construction with no gas permeability. When blended starting material for sintering is charged onto the pallet, coarse grain material usually gathers in the vicinities of the side plates, and oversintering of the material due to excess gas permeability occurs, whereby the sintered product becomes brittle and fragile, resulting in deteriorated quality and a lowered yield. By placing bars 4 the gas permeability is controlled to prevent occurrence of defects due to oversintering.
