PURPOSE: Undrawn polyethylene terephthalate monofilament is drawn and heat treated under specific conditions to give title monofilament with outstandingly increased knot strength against shock without any adverse effect on knot strength and transparency.
CONSTITUTION: Undrawn polyethylene terephthalate monofilament is drawn in hot water bath at 85W95, preferably 87W93°C at a draw ratio of 3.0W3.5 and further drawn in a gas atmosphere of 150W260, preferably 180W240°C at a draw ratio of 1.7W2.3, preferably 1.8W2.2. Finally, the resulting monofilament is heat treated in a gas atmosphere of 200W260, preferably 220W250°C at a taking-up ratio of 1.0W0.95, preferably 1.0W0.97.
