Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the diameter of optical point always constant at any position of scanning line, by constituting the condenser system to the plane of projection with a volume hologram.
CONSTITUTION: The light beam emitted from a laser beam source 1 receives a modulation signal from an ultrasonic light modulating element 2, and is modulated in strength. This strength-modulated optical beam runs through a beam shaping lens system 3 and a plane mirror 7, and enters a rotating polyhedral mirror 4. The optical beam entering from the plane mirror 7 is polarized by this rotating polyhedral mirror 4. This polarized optical beam enters a volume hologram 13 of a recording medium 8. When the light polarized by the rotating polyhedral mirror 4 scans on the recording medium 8, it reconstructs the volume holograms 13 arranged in a row successively, and reconstructed images scan on the plane of projection 6. Thus, the condenser system is constituted with volume holograms, so that the diameter of optical point may be constant at any position on the scanning line.
