Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce propagation loss of string vibrations and improve sound quality by so arranging the bridge that the ratio E/ρ of Young's modulus E and density ρ decrease as it goes from the portions in contact with strings toward the portions in contact with soundboard.
CONSTITUTION: For example, a long briged 11 is bonded on a soundboard 2 and its shape is identical to that of conventional ones. And the long bridge 11 is bonded and laminated with four members 11a thru d in its thickness direction and the ratios E/ρ of the densities and Young's modulus of the respective members become smaller as it goes from the member 11a on the side in contact with strings toward the member 11d on the side in contact with the soundboard 12. Hence, reflecting of string vibrations by the boundary faces of the member will not occur and the string vibrations are popagated to the sound board, thus the propaation loss is reduced.
