Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a self-curing resin curable at low temperature and giving a coating film having excellent water resisting property, corrosion resistance and moisture resistance, by copolymerizing a monomer having acid catalytic activity with a crosslinkable monomer and copolymerizable monomers.
CONSTITUTION: A self-curing resin is prepared preferably by emulsion copolymerization of (A) 0.1W5 parts by weight of a compound I [R1 is H, lower (cyclo) alkyl, phenyl or halogen; R2 is divalent saturated hydrocarbon group; Y is -0-, or -NH-; X is H, ammonium or amine] (e.g. ammonium 2-acrylamide-2-methyl-1- propyl sulfonate, etc.) with (B) 5W30 parts by weight of a compound II (R3 is the same as R1; R4 is H or 1W6C lower alkyl) (e.g. N-mehylolacrylamide, etc.) and (C) 94.5W65 parts by weight of α,β-monoethylenic unsaturated compounds copolymerizable with (A) and (B) (e.g. methyl acrylate, etc.).
