Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide colorful tints to armoring part for timepiece by a simplified process in which more than 2 kinds of roughnesses are given to the surface of armoring part for timepiece made of aluminium, etc., the surface layer of the armoring part is subjected to an anodic oxidation treatment, and then a dyeing treatment is applied.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of armoring part for timepiece, made of aluminum, etc., is partly subjected to a mirror surface finishing and also the rest is subjected to a honing finishing. After finishing and polishing, it is subjected to an anodic oxidation treatment to form the anode oxidated layer 8 on the surfaces of respective sides 7. Since, however, the thickness of the anode oxidated layer 8 is controlled on the basis of a certain surface area and a fixed time, the coarser the surface roughness of the side 7, the wider its surface area, and the thinner the thickness of the oxidated layer 8 becomes. Because the dye 9 goes into the aperture of the oxidated layer 8 during dyeing process, varied lightness is obtained and thus varied tints are obtained even if uni-dye dyeing is made. After dyeing, it is subjected to a hole-closing treatment to expand the tip portion 8a of the oxidated layer in order to prevent the loss of dye.
