Abstract

PURPOSE: To indicate the position of defective part, by detecting light generated inside a gas-insulated apparatus at the time of dielectric breakdown and changing the light into stable electric signal unaffected by the induced voltage at the time of dielectric breakdown.
CONSTITUTION: A discharge light detector 6 is attached to a part of a sheath 4 at each of sections divided by insulator spacers 2. The light generated by defective discharge is picked out through a light guide 7 and is changed into the stable DC signal by a photoelectric converter which is separated from the gas-insulated apparatus and consists of a light-driven thyristor 9, a battery 10, a switch 11, a signal cable 13 having an electromagnetic shield 12, and a luminous diode 14. Thereby, the defective section is detected.
