Abstract
PURPOSE: To simplify the control adjustment of a display electrode voltage, and to enable the same driver circuit to drive several display bodies by holding constant a difference between write and erase voltage supplied to display electrodes and by varying an opposite voltage.
CONSTITUTION: Since oxidation potential EOX1 and reduction potential ERE2 depend upon an electrochromic Ec material, the value of difference VPP10 between the both has no relation with potential EC3 of the opposite electrode. For the purpose, two voltages VOX11 and VRE12 to grounded point 9 are set with VOX-VRE=VPP and a voltage of VC13 is applied to the opposite electrode with VOX-VC=XE, so that VRE-VC=VW will be satisfied automatically. Here, VW denotes a write voltage, and VE an erase voltage. Therefore, when the potential of the opposite electrode changed from EC3 into EC'14, it is only required to adjust VC13 to VC'15. In addition, only supplying a different voltage to the opposite electrode of a different panel enables the same circuit to drive several display bodies.
