Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain improved coating performance and coating appearance of a thermosetting aqueous high-solid coating compound, by applying an aqueous coating compound comprising a hydroxyl group-containing polycarboxylic acid-type resin, a water-soluble amino resin, and a polyether-polyol to an article.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous coating compound consisting mainly of a mixture prepared by incorporating (A) 100 parts by wt. of a blend, obtained from (a) 100 parts by wt. of hydroxyl group-containing polycoaboxylic acid-typy resin having an acid value of 20W100 and a hydroxyl number of 20W200 and (b) 5W70 parts by wt. of a water-soluble amino resin, with (B) 20W200 parts by wt. of a polyether-polyol of the formuala and water is adjusted to a non-volatile content ≥ 70 wt. % and viscosity ≥ of 300W3,000 cp., and applied to an arnicle. If the acid value of the polycarboxylic acid-type resin is < 20, the solubilization in water is insufficient. If the hydroxyl number is < 20, the curability of the film is insufficient. If the acid value is >100 and the hydroxyl number is > 200, the water and chemical resistance of the film are undersirably lowered.
