Abstract

PURPOSE: To transfer heat to a wick sufficiently by inserting the tubular metallic porous body in three dimensional irregular net form having the void ratio above 90% into the tubular part of a closed vessel and cold-processing said body by drawing dies and contacting the metal porous body with the wall surface of the colsed vessel closely.
CONSTITUTION: A foamed metal 2 is inserted into a heat pipe vessel 1, eliminating the vacant space generated between the inner wall 1a of the vessel and the outer surface 2a of the foamed metal, and in order to strengthen close adhesion, the outer surface of the vessel is retrenched by applying coil processing by means of drawing dies. The constitution described above strengthens the close adhesion between the wick and the vessel, and the sufficient transfer of heat is secured.
