Abstract

PURPOSE: Insoluble azo pigments are treated with a free amine and an fatty acid or resin acid to produce said azo pigments with excellent luster, fluidity and storage stability.
CONSTITUTION: To 100 parts by wt of an insoluble azo pigment are added 1W30 parts of a free amine and 0.1W0.5 equivalent amount of a fatty or resin acid on the amine base and they are treated so that the amount of the free amine remaining finally becomes 1W7 parts on the pigment base. The azo pigments are preferably acetoanilide ones. The amine is, e.g., caprylamine, octylamine, atearylpropylamine. The carboxylic acid is, e.g., caproic, lauric, stearic acid. The resin acid is, e.g., abietic acid, polymerized rosin or hydrogenated rosin.
