Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a slightly corrosive CO absorbent for recovering CO in a gas mixt. with high purity, which is inert to CO2 and consists of cuprous chloride, a monovalent metal chloride other than cuprous chloride, and pyridine or its derivative.
CONSTITUTION: The CO absorbent consists of cuprous chloride, a monovalent metal chloride other than cuprous chloride, e.g. LiCl, and pyridine or its derivative, e.g. picoline blended in a molar ratio of 1:0.5W3.0:10W40, esp. 1:1.0W3.0:20W40. CO-contg. gas is brought into contact with the absorbent esp. at 0W100°C and 0W15 kg/cm2G to allow the CO to be selectively absorbed. The CO-absorbed absorbent is heated to above the absorbing temp. and/or reduced in press. to rapidly diffuse the CO, and high purity CO is captured.
