Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve efficiency of grinding operation by providing inside of work rest with a means of measuring diameter of a work to be ground.
CONSTITUTION: When a crankshaft 1, being a work, is ground, switch is turned on and a coil is magnetized to attract a stylus 5 into the coil and then in a differential transformer 4 so as to keep it away from a crank pin 1a. When diameter of the crank pin 1a is miasured, the atorementioned coil is demagnetized to remove the aforementioned attraction, and the stylus 5 is pushed out from the differential transformer 4 by springing force and brought in contact with the creank pin 1 a which was advanced into a groove on the tip of a work rest 3. The stylus 5 which was thus provided in the work rest 3 expands and contracts according to diameter of the crank pin 1 a allowing 5 a to shift in the differential transformer and then a signal corresponding to the aforementioned diameter is emitted from the differential transformer.
